A sumptuous and stirring tale of love, betrayal, passion, and tragedy, of an anonymous hotel room that, over the course of century, sees every kind of human drama. Through a series of seven intricately woven stories we witness the defining moments in the life of room number 720. We begin in 1921 on the hotel's opening night and moving to the depressing-era 1933; then we emerge in 1945 for a post-war reunion continuing on to 1953, the sexually liberated 1960's and the decadent 1980's, before the dramatic climax on the eve of the new millenium.
